National quantum strategies
This post is in response to information regarding the upcoming National Quantum Strategy that has been coming to me from various quarters and it is not always positive information. However since I havent discussed this directly with specific actors I wont even name them yet. Before we look at the Czech strategy lets turn to the world and summarize what the goal of similar strategies is.What is a national quantum strategy good for? are usually state strategic documents that define on paper strategic goals in the field of quantum technologies both security and economic.Typically these strategies set goals such as the support and growth of a national Indonesia WhatsApp Number Data quantum ecosystem or self-independenceself-sufficiency for specific technologies such as building a national quantum computer from scratch. And then there are security strategic goals where a transition to quantum-resistant encryption or directly quantum key distribution can be defined. Before I go deeper I want to point out the most common misunderstandings or myths:A quant strategy equals an investment. Yes often a strategy announcement goes hand in hand with an investment announcement. But its not a rule.

The strategy is usually of a longer-term nature than the announced investments. The main goal is to determine the priorities that should be invested in when some money is available whether national or for example from the EU.It cannot be done without a quantum strategy. There are a lot of countries where they have a captive quantum ecosystem and yet there is no national strategy. An example is Denmark where the startup and academic spheres are active but they released the strategy only last week and only the first part of it.This is not possible without state investments. But it works.
